Wörthersse, Faaker See, Ossiacher See

…The lake-rich roadbike region

The region offers mountain tours with steep climbs, as well as leisurely rides around lakes; everything that a racing biker could want. The mild temperatures offer ideal training conditions as early as May, for the start of the racing biking season.

Away from the road:
Carinthia is “water-rich”. There are 200 bathing lakes, fed by pure drinking quality water, some of the cleanest bathing lakes in Europe. There is also healing, thermal water, rich in minerals, springing from the ground.

What the roadbike experts say:

The region around the Wörthersee, Faaker See und Ossiacher See lakes offers an ideal racing biking environment and good weather conditions. The variety of routes and the beautiful lakeland landscape are fascinating. In 1987, in the Faaker See/Villach region, the road World Championship took place. The World Championship route is still marked and rideable today. Popular with racing bikers is the ride up to the Dobratsch on the Villach Alpine Road. The Villach Alpine Road runs for about 16 km from Villach-Möltschach on the Dobratsch. There is a fantastic panoramic of Villach, the Julisch Alps, and the striking south face of the Dobratsch from this road, the largest landslide area of the Eastern Alps. It’s not only the riding experience of this mountain road that make this trip so rewarding, but also the healthy mountain air.
