Away from the road:
The motto “auffi muaß I” (“I must go up”) applies to the Otztal Valley, whether you are on the 1300 km of way-marked hiking paths, or on the 300 climbing routes, or using the lifts that operate in the summer.

What the expert says:
The ride up to the Rettenbachferner is a must for ambitious racing bikers. The Otztaler Gletscherstrasse (glacier road) takes you to the highest point reachable by racing bike. From Sölden, at 1370 m, the route then it goes up for about 13 km to the Rettenbachgletscher glacier, at 2670 m. If you reach the base of the glacier, you can be really proud of yourself.
